Trial By Jury - Christmas Edition

Havant Light Opera celebrates the festive season with a whimsical one act operetta by Gilbert & Sullivan. Trial by Jury  is a delightfully ludicrous but gentle satire on the due processes of the law. The eccentric characters and absurd plot are perfect for the festive pantomime treatment – with all the traditional topical humour, colourful characters, villains and heroes, and of course some audience participation!  The second half of the evening will be a medley of Christmas music and carols – another chance for the audience to sing along to well-known festive favourites. This is an early opportunity to enjoy the spirit and magic of Christmas for audiences young and old.

Performances will be at 7.30 pm on Thursday 1st December, 2.00 pm and 7.30 pm Friday 2 December and 7.30 pm on Saturday 3 December. Tickets available from The Spring (www.thespring.co.uk). Tickets £10, under 18s £5.

The Pirates of Penzance - or The Slave to Duty

Havant Light Opera returns to the stage at The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre with one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most popular comic operas.  The Pirates of Penzance is packed with a treasure chest of memorable and jaunty songs. A timeless story of conflict between duty and love, featuring sentimental pirates, blundering policemen, and a pompous major-general with a bevy of purposeful daughters.  With a mix of swashbuckling adventure and rollicking romance, The Pirates of Penzance is sure to entertain and amuse the whole family.
